In the weeks leading up to September 29, 2001, Scott informed us of his decision to become an Organ Donor. He expressed his intention to update his driver's license to reflect this choice.
During our darkest days, my cousin Eddie, who had experienced the loss of his son David on October 30, 1982, provided us with unwavering support and encouragement. David, tragically, was the first tissue donor in the state of Pennsylvania. This event deeply inspired Eddie, motivating him to become actively involved in all aspects of tissue donation. He dedicated his time as a board member of the PA Regional Tissue Bank, now known as MTF, and the Robert P. Casey Organ and Tissue Donation Advisory Committees.
Eddie presented us with a Medallion to be placed on the back of Scott's headstone, in honor of Scott's remarkable and compassionate commitment to organ donation. Scott enjoyed excellent health, and his organ and eye donations had a profound impact on several individuals in desperate need, significantly improving their lives. The heartfelt letters of appreciation from the recipients bring tears to our eyes. Scott's legacy forever transformed lives.
